I was so excited when Charlotte’s mom contacted me about a combined family and cake smash session.  We met for the first time at Riverside Park in Fairfield, CT and I was immediately stunned by this picture-perfect family.  They were so adorable together and little miss Charlotte was so cute and dainty with her cake.  Enjoy!

Her name is Nicole.  She is a beautiful superwoman, a wife,  a mom, and most importantly, a woman of God.  I am blessed to call her a friend and honored to have been a part of such a precious time in her family’s life.  I had the opportunity to meet sweet baby boy Jonah at only 2 days old.  He arrived 2 weeks after these were taken (1 week late!) at a whopping 9lbs 12oz.  See, I told you she was a superwoman.

I don’t know if it was the weather, the perfect backdrop of Ambler Farm in Wilton, or this gorgeous, extremely photogenic couple, but I ended up proofing about 3x more than my  typical family session.  I love this couple so much.  Jake is the youth pastor at our church in New Canaan and Melissa is the very talented artist and photographer of www.melissakircher.com.  They also run an awesome blog on Christian marriage called The Holymess of Marriage.  You just have to check our their creative date night ideas!

I also had the pleasure of capturing images of their sweet foster baby boy.  For privacy reasons, they are for their eyes only –  but my goodness, the whole family belongs in a magazine!  Some of my favorites:

Please meet Miss Lucy Luce.  I’ve had the pleasure of knowing this sweet girl since she was in her mommy’s belly.  I can’t believe it was time to celebrate her 1 yr birthday!  Poor Lucy wasn’t feeling too well the evening of our planned shoot, so I stopped by her house with some cake and balloons and we made it work in the backyard for about 20 minutes…in the 50 degree weather.  She was such a trooper!

Are you a cake or an icing person?  Even at only 12 months old, Lucy already made up her mind that she is a cake girl.  It took some encouragement from her mom and I to get her to eat the icing.  We even had to smear some on Lucy’s face for the pictures.  Silly little girl.  At least mom doesn’t have to worry about a sweet tooth!

Ok, this was definitely my favorite family session thus far.  I went into it with few expectations – I mean, there were twin 2 yr old boys involved!!  But as it turns out, those boys were just gems in front of the camera, and sweet almost 4 yr old Annie had me laughing at every click of the shutter.  What I loved most about this session was the very little posing that was involved.  For the most part, I just got to sit back and watch their love for each other unfold in my lens.  Grandma was able to join in the fun too.  Such fun!!!  To be able to freeze such special moments for this family – it’s why I LOVE what I do.
